SmartVelora Solutions (smartvelorasolution.site) is an independent reference publisher operated by Stuti Goenka. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, sponsored by, or connected to Amazon.com, Inc., or to any retailer or service provider. All product names and trademarks belong to their respective owners and are used here for identification only.

We publish written reference material only. We provide no phone support, no human advisers, no remote assistance, no diagnostics, no account recovery and no repair services, and we never request credentials, passwords, or payment details. The search assistant in the corner of this page is an automated tool that returns links to pages on this site — nobody staffs it and it cannot help with a device. For help with a device you own, contact the manufacturer or the retailer who sold it.

Tap a color, read what it means

OrangeSetup mode. The device is powered and waiting to be set up. Normal for anything not yet configured.

Conventions vary by model, generation and software version. The documentation supplied with your device is the authority. This is a glossary, not a diagnostic tool.

Echo devices have no screen on most models, so a ring of light does the talking. This page explains what the colors mean. It's a glossary, not a repair guide, and it prescribes nothing.

Color conventions differ between models, generations, and software versions. The documentation that came with your specific device is the authority; this page is background reading.

Question 01Why is my new Echo glowing orange?

Orange means setup mode. It is powered up, awake, and sitting in the state that lets an app configure it.

Question 02What does blue mean?

Blue is the working color. It generally means the device has heard itself addressed and is doing something about it.

Question 03Why is part of the ring a different color from the rest?

Because the device is indicating direction.

Question 04What does solid red mean?

Red generally means the microphone is off — voice capture is disabled and the device isn't listening.

Question 05What does purple mean?

Purple means Do Not Disturb is switched on. Notifications, announcements, calls and messages are held back, while ordinary voice interaction still works.

Keep reading. Once you have more than one device, naming and rooms matter more than colors do. Open that page.

Question 06What does green mean?

Green relates to calls and messaging.

Question 07What does yellow mean?

Pulsing yellow means something is waiting for you — a message, a reminder, or a delivery notification.

Question 08What does white mean?

White usually indicates volume. A white segment that grows and shrinks as you adjust volume is the most common use.

Question 09Why don't the colors match what a friend's device does?

Because the light scheme is a design decision made per product line, and it changes.

Question 10Is the light on all the time?

No. Most of the time the ring is dark, which is the resting state.

A note on what this page deliberately doesn't do

This page explains meanings. It doesn't tell you to press anything, hold anything, reset anything, or perform any sequence on the hardware, and it contains no symptom-to-solution instructions.

That's a deliberate editorial limit, explained in our Editorial Standards. If a device is behaving in a way you can't account for, the manufacturer is the only party who can actually see it and act.
